Schaumburg Septemberfest, the village’s flagship event, is a three-day festival held over the Labor Day holiday weekend. Septemberfest was originally established in 1971 by local charitable organizations as a way to raise funds while providing an alternative to holiday travel for local residents. Septemberfest 2026 marks the 44th year the village has sponsored the event, during which time Septemberfest has grown to be one of the largest festivals in Illinois.

Septemberfest is organized by the village’s Septemberfest Committee composed of a 27-member team of professionals tasked with planning and executing the event with support from all municipal departments, including cultural services, engineering and public works, transportation, police, fire, and community development—as well as countless intergovernmental partners including the Schaumburg Park District, Schaumburg Township and School Districts 54 and 211.

Since its inception, Septemberfest has seen a consistent increase in attendance. The Labor Day celebration historically draws over 100,000 patrons with most festival attendees from Schaumburg and the surrounding communities. Our Labor Day celebration is rooted in strong support and patronage from residents of Schaumburg and the surrounding suburbs. We're delighted to also welcome attendees from across the greater Chicagoland area and beyond state lines, making Septemberfest the destination to be for Labor Day weekend!
